Our Story

When a close friend of mine started doing freeze dried candy, I was intrigued by the process and I loved the effect the freeze-drying process had on the candy. Unfortunately, the freeze dried candy was so good, I wanted to eat it all! But as diabetic and also having diabetic friends, I needed to find something more nutritious with less impact on sugar levels.

When I started researching the topic and I discovered just how many foods could be freeze dried, I was hooked on the idea. Almost any food can be freeze dried including eggs, casseroles and even some meats. The next thing I knew, I had a freeze drier and I started testing with a focus on fruits and vegetables. I really enjoy the process of prepping the food even though it takes a much longer time to freeze dry than candy.

So far, I have freeze dried strawberries, pineapple, bananas, blueberries, apples, bell peppers, onions green beans and corn. I’m now venturing out into freeze dried pudding drops and even smoked sausage. I’ve even combined some of the vegetables into food prep packs such as Holy Trinity (onions, celery and bell pepper) and Mirepoix (onions, celery and carrots).

Everything I’ve tested has been wonderful, even the smoked sausage. I am now using the freeze dried products like onions and green pepper almost daily when cooking because it’s so easy to reconstitute or even just throw them into the pan as is with ground beef or whatever. I enjoy always having celery, onions and bell pepper on hand instead of buying them just to have them go bad before I can use them.
